What WorthAPick is
WorthAPick is a small, independently-run tool that analyzes estate sale and auction listings and estimates what individual items are worth, using publicly available comparable listings. It is not affiliated with EstateSales.NET, CTBids, AuctionNinja, eBay, or Etsy.
What we collect
- Account info: your name, email address, and profile picture from Google, when you sign in with Google.
- Sale and item data: the listing URLs you submit, photos and text you upload via the photo-scan feature, and the data our scrapers pull from the listing pages you point us at.
- Location: the ZIP code you save, or an approximate location worked out from your connection when you haven't saved one, used only to show sales nearest you first. The approximate location isn't saved to your account.
- Usage analytics: via Vercel Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or track you across other sites, and via PostHog, which does use cookies — see below.
- Session recordings (PostHog): we record how pages are used — clicks, scrolling, which buttons get pressed and where people get stuck — and can replay those sessions to work out why something isn't working. Everything you type into any field is masked before it leaves your browser: passwords, email addresses, prices, notes. We see that a field was filled in, not what was put in it. This is used to fix the product, never to build a profile of you or to target advertising, and it isn't sold or shared beyond PostHog itself. PostHog sets a cookie to recognise a returning visitor, and if your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal we don't record you at all.
These recordings are not linked to your account. We never send PostHog your identity, so a recording can't be traced back to you by us or by them — which is also why deleting your account doesn't delete them: there is nothing connecting the two to act on. If you'd rather not be recorded at all, turn on “Do Not Track” in your browser, or email us and we'll switch it off for you. - Payment info: if you pay for WorthAPick, payment is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card number. Stripe collects your billing details directly and processes payment under its own privacy policy.
How it's used
Item photos and listing text are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to identify items and estimate their value, and to eBay and Etsy's public search APIs to find comparable listings. Nothing you submit is used to train any AI model, sold to advertisers, or shared with any third party beyond what's needed to generate your results.
WorthAPick's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data retention, deletion, and your rights
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. Both of these live under Settings once you're signed in:
- Request my data asks us for a copy of everything the app holds about you — your account details, sales, items, estimates, comps, cart, watched items, outcomes, listing drafts, settings, and your billing record — as a single JSON file. Access tokens are excluded, since those are credentials rather than information about you. We put the file together by hand and email it to the address on your account: usually within a few days, and within 30 days at the latest. It isn't an instant download — for a heavily-used account the file runs to hundreds of megabytes, which is more than a browser can reliably be handed on the spot.
- Delete account permanently deletes your account and everything above, right away — that one is immediate and needs nobody's help. There's no archive and no recovery window, so if you want a copy, request your data and wait for it to arrive before deleting. If you bought lifetime access, deleting the account destroys it — there is no refund and no way to restore it, so you'll be asked to confirm that specifically. If you have a subscription, deleting the account cancels it immediately.
One thing is deliberately not deleted: anonymous records of what items sold for. Those carry no link to you or your account and are what makes the price estimates work.
If you ever paid us, the record of that payment is also kept. Tax and accounting rules require businesses to retain records of what they were paid, and the right to have your data erased doesn't override that — so Stripe, our payment processor, keeps the transaction, and we keep the reference that points to it. That reference is an identifier and a date, not your WorthAPick account or anything you did in the app, all of which is deleted. It exists so a later refund or billing dispute can still be answered.
You can still email worthapickr@gmail.com instead — to have something corrected, to ask a question about your data, or if you'd rather someone handled the deletion for you. Emailed requests are usually handled within a few days.
